We love the laid back Hawaiian vibe. Ordering was hard because there are so many good things to choose from! We decided on the Loco Moco & the Spam Royal. I know what you're thinking how can she eat spam? If your a true Hawaiian food lover, you love Spam! Stir fry into some rice and it's delish! The macaroni salad is really good. And that pillow soft Hawaiian roll is amazing. We took a pineapple bread pudding to go. I couldn't resist a little dessert for later.

Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe was a good experience for me. For others in the family, it was not such a good experience. The reason is that I was a fan of my entree choice. Others were not happy with their choices. Since I'm giving my point of view, Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe gets 4 stars from me. They can write their own reviews, but they won't cause they are not Yelpers. Lol! I ordered the Original Hawaiian Royale, and it was frickin delicious!!! Loaded with flavor, and the portion was very generous. The Hawaiian Royale is an open scrambled omelette over white rice. Portuguese sausage, Char sui (Chinese BBQ pork), onions, and bean sprouts complete the Hawaiian Royale. My leftovers still tasted good the next day. I was kind enough to let the others try my meal, and they all agreed that it tasted good. I only got to try one more thing which was the Spam Musubi, and I thought it tasted yummy too. If it is up to me, then I'd be returning to Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe in the future. Hopefully, I can convince the family to join me.

The Original Hawaiian Royal w/ Fried Rice - Portuguese Sausage, Char Sui (Chinese BBQ Pork), Eggs, Fried Rice, Sprouts, Onions / 5! Spam Masubi - spam, rice, sauce, seaweed wrap / 5! Hawaiian-style Macaroni Salad / 5! I am a fan of Hawaiian food partly because it is a wonderfully eclectic blend of influences from other cuisines and has evolved far enough to have its own distinct culinary identity. Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe, an LA Hawaiian cafe with a few locations around the SoCal area, fully embraces the food that makes Hawaii special. Their menu includes a large list of island favorites. I was drawn towards the Royale dish, which is something that isn't available at lots of other Hawaiian places. A Royale is an egg/omelet dish mixed with rice and fillings. I went with their original which includes sausage and char sui and I went for the fried rice version. It was amazing! So much flavor with all the ingredients mixed together. Every bite was magic. It was also insanely filling. I used some of the bbq sauces on the table to add a bit more kick. I love Hawaiian style macaroni salad as well as spam musubi. Had I known how big the royale was, I'd probably have just ordered that but I was keen to try some other items. No regrets! The spam musubi is always a fun dish to have. It is a nice savory/sweet combo and hits the spot. Their take on the macaroni salad was also excellent. The restaurant is bright and colorful. I like that a large copy of the menu greets you at the door. There are lots of seats inside and outside on a patio. The servers were friendly and helpful. My server convinced me to try the royale. She was so right! There is a very small parking lot connected to the restaurant but it also looked like there was lots of easy street parking. If you love Hawaiian cuisine or if you are curious what makes a great Hawaiian dish, give Rutt's a try! They have been open for a long time and have a lot of great food in their friendly, colorful location.
